Bifidobacterium animals subsp. lactis is a Gram-positive
anaerobic rod-shaped bacterium which can be found in the
large intestines of most mammals, including humans. Bifidobacterium animalis includes two sub-species:
Bifidobacterium animals subsp. animalis (B.animalis) and Bifidobacterium animals subsp. Lactis (B.lactis).these two strains were previously described as distinct species.Bifidobacterium animalis (including B.animalis and B.lactis) is the most popular used probiotic bacteria belonging to the Bifidobacterium spp.. It has the dominating characters of this genus: it colonizes the human gastrointestinal tract representing up to 90% of the bacteria of an infant's GI tract, but then step by step decreases to a 3% level as the infant ages, and other enteric bacteria, such as Bacteroides and Eubacterium begin to dominate. Bifidobacterium animalis participates in the metabolism and heteromorphosis by fermenting glucose, galactose, fructose etc. to produce Lactic Acid, Acetic Acid, as well as Enzymes, Vitamins etc.APPLICATIONS:
