Lysozyme is an enzyme protein that exists in many animal and plant tissues. It can play an antibacterial role by breaking down the polysaccharide chain of bacterial cell wall. It exists in human saliva, milk and other body fluids.
Lysozyme mainly acts on N-acetylglucosamine and n-acetylmuramic acid of the bacterial cell wall, leading to the structural destruction and dissolution of the bacterial cell wall, which makes lysozyme play a certain defense role in the natural immune system, rather than only relying on humoral and cellular immune responses.Lysozyme is widely present in many tissues and secretions of the human body, such as saliva, tears, nasal secretions, milk and fallopian tube secretions. The determination of lysozyme has certain significance for the diagnosis of some diseases, such as leukemia, urinary system infection, chronic nephritis, biliary tract infection, pancreatitis and so on.
