The Plate heat exchanger consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates, The corrugation of the plates provides the passage between the plates, the two fluids transfer the heat between the channels. The plate pack is assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate and compressed by tightening bolts. The gasket between the plates seals the interplate channel and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined by the design: the temperature program, flow rate, pressure drop and physical properties of the fluids.

High heat transfer efficiency : Plate heat exchanger has a very high heat transfer coefficient, usually between4000-12000W/m2C. Since the medium flowing in the plate group can form a strongturbulence at a low Reynolds number (Re).Low scaling rate : Dirty scale is difficult to deposit. Because the fluid turbulent inside the plate and theflow rateevenly spreads the entire plate, the surface of the plate is relatively smooth.Great flexibility : The plate heat exchangers can be combined optimally and adapt changes in thermaload flexibly, since the plates can be combined into various processes. You only needto increase or decrease the number of plates, and it can adapt to the new changeswithout having to change the frame.Low retention : The plate heat exchanger can be very good at controlling the temperature of thesecondary side medium, since the flow path and volume is small, and the amount offluid residing inside the heat exchanger is small. Especially in the treatment of heatsensitive materials,plate heat exchangers are better.Compact structure : Under the same heat transfer conditions, the plate heat exchanger covers only about1/3 area of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger for saving a precious space. Besidesthere is no need to take up extra space when disassembling and repairing.Easy maintenance : The plate is designed with no dead space, so it can be chemically cleaned on sitewithout disassembly. Even though it needs disassembly, a worker usually cancomplete the replacement cleaning.
