Hard carbon refers to hard-graphitizable carbon. It is a type of carbon material obtained by high-temperature pyrolysis using high molecular polymer as a precursor. It is generally prepared by pyrolyzing resin at about 1000°C. This type of carbon is at a high temperature above 2500°C. It is also difficult to graphitize. The reversible specific capacity of hard carbon is higher than that of graphite, generally 500-700 mAh/g. Common hard carbons include resin carbon (such as phenolic resin and polyfurfuryl alcohol, etc.), organic polymer pyrolysis carbon (such as PFA, PVC, PVDF, PAN, etc.) and carbon black. Compared with graphite, hard carbon has a larger interlayer spacing and a richer pore structure, excellent low-temperature rate performance and excellent electrolyte compatibility, making it the most potential negative electrode material for power batteries.
