New MTC in Liverpool to explore 'emotional responses to advanced manufacturing'

The renowned Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is planning a new facility in Liverpool, focusing on areas including improving product development and measuring emotional responses to advanced manufacturing processes.
The renowned Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is planning a new facility in Liverpool, focusing on areas including improving product development and measuring emotional responses to advanced manufacturing processes.
Intended to support manufacturing growth and innovation in the North West, the MTC’s new 441.29m2 centre will have more than 60 staff at Liverpool Science Park.
“We are excited to be expanding our footprint in Liverpool and broadening our services and support for the wider North West, supporting skills, productivity and growth in the region,” said Dr Charlie Whitford, associate director for strategic development at the MTC.
“For the past four years we have been located on the Liverpool John Moores University (LMJU) campus. We are looking forward to continuing our work with LMJU, as well as working with the University of Liverpool and other regional stakeholders to help manufacturers in the North West region stay competitive, improve product development and processes and benefit from new technologies, taking academic research and translating it into innovative manufacturing solutions for industry.”
A new laboratory will let businesses test processes in a ‘de-risked’ environment, and other areas of specialism will include “measuring human physical and emotional responses and behaviour when working with technology and advanced manufacturing processes”.
The MTC, which is based in Coventry, told Professional Engineering that the new facility will open later this year.
