Bronze graphite bushings are also known as oilless bearings or graphite impregnated bushings or graphite plugged bronze bearings. Graphite impregnated bushings are great for applications where maintenance is difficult and where normal grease and oil based lubricants can burn off due to high temperatures. Bronze body provides the necessary strength to the bearing and graphite plugs acts as reservoir of lubricants. Graphite film from the graphite plug is transferred onto the shaft as it rotates and acts as lubricant even under high loads and low speeds. The cast bronze base material gives stronger bearing ability when compared to self lubricating leaded bronze bushings. The applications for these bearings include construction equipment, transportation machinery, mining equipment etc.
