Manganese is an element of the VIIb group of the periodic table of elements. It is a hard brittle, silvery metal. It has an atomic number of 25 and atomic weight of 54.938. It is insoluble in water. The melting point of Manganese is 1244℃, boiling point is 1962℃ and density is 7.3g/cm³. Manganese sputtering targets are mainly used as desulphurization or alloy additive in steel industry to improves the rolling and forging qualities, strength, toughness, stiffness, wear resistance, hardness, and hardenability. Manganese could be an Austenite forming element to produce stainless steel, special alloy steel and stainless-steel electrodes.
